Storm King’s Thunder (2) Session 45 Recap

  • After a few minutes our heroes figured out how to work the platform which took them to the floor below.
  • They were then greeted by lord Syuul, who was not upset with them in the least, but rather making conversation with them, insisting they would make wonderful test subjects.
  • Our heroes also saw King Hekaton on the other side of Syuul.
  • Farren would have none of that though, and chucked a couple of slugs at Syuul, who turned into Storm Giants and then squashed Syuul.
  • A wall formed in the middle of the room, cutting off Farren and Murph from the rest of the group.
  • Uur heroes noticed they seemed unable to damage Syull, upon further investigation they realized what was there was nothing but an illusion.
  • Ivar went to tear a hole in the wall to get to Farren, who was being assaulted by the real Syuul.
  • As the fight continued and Farren was on the verge of death, Murph shot an arrow at him, trying to act as though he simply missed. Luckily Ivar redirected the hit onto Syuul himself.
  • Farren turned into a giant ape and picked up Syuul, climbing to the ceiling to drop him, only to realize the being could fly.
  • Meanwhile, the other side were trying to get the tentacle things out of King Hekaton, it took a bit but they eventually managed to succeed.
  • The entire group was now free to focus on Syuul, quickly bringing him down before the ape Farren charged at Murph with a murderous rage.
  • Murph tried to avoid fighting and ran away, the group was unsure what to do, trying to talk down Farren and understand what Murph did. When Antkeep read Murph’s thoughts the only thing he could hear was I didn’t do it.
  • Finally, Skarr shot an arrow at Farren to stop him, as Murph had only been trying to hide.
  • Our heroes quickly looted the place before heading back to the Maelstrom with Hekaton.
  • Once there Farren, unhappy with the group and no longer able to trust them, left to return to Waterdeep.
  • Our heroes experienced a happy reunion between father and daughter, although learned that the ordening had not yet been restored. Hekaton believed it may have something to do with the dragons. He suggested possibly going after the ice dragon first, as that one had once been a benevolent ruler over a human kingdom.
  • Our heroes decided to rest for the night, as Murph once again attuned to the meditation room.
  • In the morning, our heroes questioned the two prisoners but were unable to gain much information. Remembering that Reus just died, the only thing they remembered was after knocking him out they removed all his clothes.
  • Our heroes wanted to try putting the cloak back on Reus, but he refused, eventually teleporting away. Thanks to a quick Scrying Antkeep was able to determine he had left for Yartar.
