Upon arriving in town the group started by visiting Odd Stories, the local bookstore. There, they conversed with the owner, Morlibint, and discussed the mysterious Gauntlight ruins. They learned of an eerie nursery rhyme about Belcorra, a figure who supposedly ate naughty children.
Intrigued by the tale, the group wandered through town and eventually arrived at the Dawnflower Library, which also served as a temple. They met Vandy Banderdash, the halfling head librarian and a devout worshiper of Saranrae. Despite their efforts, they couldn’t uncover much more about the rhyme. Vandy believed Belcorra had been slain centuries ago and that the Gauntlight ruins were long abandoned.
Their next stop was the Otari Market, where they spoke with Keeleno Lathenar. He revealed that his wife had been the last victim of Jaul Mezmin, a werewolf who had masqueraded as a druid of Gozreh. Although most believed Jaul had died 30 years ago, Keeleno was not convinced and offered a reward for any wolf pelt, hoping it might be Jaul’s.
The group returned to Wrin’s to rest, planning to explore the ruins under the cover of darkness.
Upon arriving at the Gauntlight ruins, they entered through the front doors and were immediately attacked by odd blue goblin-like creatures and a large maggot. After defeating them, they ventured further and encountered two more maggots. The battle left several members feeling sickened by the foul smell.
They discovered the remains of a large frog-like creature, the size of a horse, with its rear legs bitten off. Upon examination, they deduced that a draconic creature, possibly a drake, was responsible.
Continuing their exploration, they opened a wooden door and were attacked by a large fly. After defeating it, a second fly buzzed in and was also swiftly dealt with.
While some of the group treated their wounds, Asterion ventured into a dining room with a collapsed ceiling. As he stepped inside, he noticed spirits beginning to move and swirl around him.
