Abomination Vaults Session 21 Recap: Statues, Flesh, and Unlikely Allies

Our heroes meticulously examined the lifeless basilisks and discovered that their blood had been altered to remain potent for longer than usual. With enough blood to cure two creatures from petrification, they felt a glimmer of hope.

However, Dreg had other plans. With stealthy precision, he snatched one of the precious vials and hurled it at a large, inert statue, which then sprang to life, attacking in a mindless rage. Despite the initial shock, our heroes swiftly dispatched the reanimated menace.

Descending to the arena floor, the adventurers faced a gruesome beast, a mass of dead flesh and bones, reminiscent of smaller creatures they had previously encountered. The battle was fierce, almost claiming Asterion’s life, but our heroes emerged victorious with no casualties. Notably, Dreg proved to be more adept with a sling than with a bow and arrow.

The party then encountered a Seugathi, a massive wormlike creature, observing and taking notes. Attempts to attack it proved futile, as it was hidden behind an invisible barrier.

As they pressed on, the group encountered devils who revealed they had been sent by Urevian, a devil further down. Sharing a common goal to defeat Jafaki, the devils gifted our heroes some useful items before parting ways.

The heroes also detected the presence of an invisible creature, which fled when questioned, leaving them with more mysteries than answers.

In their final encounter of the session, the heroes stumbled upon a grotesque tentacled abomination, once an elf, now transformed into a monstrous being. They fought valiantly and succeeded in vanquishing this eldritch horror.
