Our heroes, having vanquished the bandit, pressed on to the stone monastery under the cover of night. As they approached, they skillfully snuck around the monastery’s perimeter, peeking in the windows, before deciding where they would go in. They went up to a door and found it to be locked. With deft hands, they picked the lock and ventured inside, only to find themselves face-to-face with dwarves. Once illuminated by Valerian’s light they realized these weren’t ordinary dwarves; they were the fearsome duergar.
A fierce battle ensued as our heroes clashed with the duergar, using their wits and combat prowess to emerge victorious.
Undeterred, our heroes pressed forward, only to encounter two more duergar—this time invisible. Isaac’s keen senses detected the unseen foes, but in the ensuing chaos, they inadvertently awoke several monks. The monks quickly joined the fray, but thanks to Valerian’s light and Mitsui’s conjured darkness, our heroes managed to defeat them without any casualties. Cleverly, they donned the monks’ robes and masks to blend in.
Their mission far from over, the heroes stealthily entered a dormitory with a bold plan: assassinate the sleeping monks. They succeeded in killing one but inadvertently sparked a brief and intense skirmish with the remaining monks. Despite the chaos, the heroes remained resolute and continued their quest.
