Abomination Vaults Session 37 Recap: The Ghost Queen Arrives

As our heroes took time to recuperate, they encountered a peculiar gargoyle-like creature capable of manipulating fire. The creature, Firebrand, claimed to have been experimented on in the vaults some time ago and had merely been resting when the heroes’ presence disturbed it. After a brief exchange, it chose to accompany them on their journey.

Venturing into the northern tunnels, the group was enveloped by eerie whispers. At first, the voices were mere distractions, but as time passed, they seemed to weave a fragmented story. The longer they listened, the harder it became to focus—yet the mystery of their meaning lingered.

Further in, they stumbled upon a gug clutching a strange glass lens. Attempts at diplomacy failed, as the creature refused to acknowledge them, keeping the lens as far away as possible. When the heroes attempted to retrieve it, the gug erupted into a violent rage, forcing them into battle.

Deciding to retreat for much-needed recovery, the heroes returned to town to regroup. Once ready, they descended once more into the ruins. Their renewed exploration led them into battle against more of the mummified gnomes, dispatching them swiftly. Deeper still, they fought wisps lurking invisibly in the shadows—though thanks to Torren’s magic, they were easily tracked and defeated.

As the group took a moment to heal, an eerie presence materialized. A spectral figure—one painfully familiar—appeared before them. The moment had arrived. After all their searching, all their battles, and all the blood spilled in the depths of the vaults, the heroes finally stood face-to-face with the ghost of Belcorra.

With the ultimate confrontation looming, the heroes steel themselves for whatever horrors await.
