Storm King’s Thunder Session 21 Recap

As life returned, our heroes were split. Mitsui and Xeric had a few more things they wanted to do before leaving but quickly got back to the rest of the party. They then headed off the beaten path to get to the spine of the world, with Harshnag explaining that this was the more dangerous path. Still they did not encounter anything of danger. Thus they started their journey in the cold, snowy mountains. Luckily, some of the members in the party were used to this type of weather and purchased some cold weather clothing for the entire party.

After travelling for a bit, our heroes heard some howling in the wind. They soon noticed a group of yetis had approached them. Tao grew in size to match the yetis and started shoving them down and grappling them one by one, not letting go until they were dead. Unfortunately, it seemed as though Tao was not used to teamwork, as she kept on knocking the ones down that Seraphina had been casting her hunter’s mark on, making them harder for her to hit.

Our heroes soon discovered what made these yetis so scary, the ability to paralyze their prey. While most of the group managed to avoid this, poor Kida was paralyzed almost the entire fight. Another cry could be heard, as a much larger yetis came crashing down from the mountains. By now our heroes were more familiar with the creature and made quick work of it, stunning it and beating it to death. They then continue on their path.

As our heroes made camp for the night, they finished off the remainder of their Dragon’s Milk. Xeric used the leftover bottle to make another x-potion. Although he wasn’t sure why, something felt special about this potion.

Our heroes continued on the next morning, and towards the end of the second day, encountered the giant temple. On the outside were six pillars, each engraved with one of the 6 types of giants. As our heroes wandered in, they started to hear some talking off in the distance. Xeric went to investigate as the others remained in their position. Xeric turned invisible and snuck over to the group. He noticed a white dragon wyrmling that was chained to one of the people. The people were all wearing animal skins for clothing.

Xeric thought he would try to free the poor dragon, but upon approaching was blasted by the dragon’s ice breath. Xeric knew he had to escape and bringing out his newly made x-potion, threw it at the ground nearby. Unbeknownst to him, this potion was much more powerful, and caused a large explosion, knocking Xeric out. Our heroes saw this flash of fire and rushed towards Xeric. Alas they were too late, as the tribals killed poor Xeric.

Jayr rushed in and with a diamond revived Xeric with the revivify spell. Mitsui used her sword and scared off the tribal folk. Thus time came to a stand still, with a group of lives hanging on a thread.
