As time resumes, a total of fourteen people signed up for the arm wrestling tournament, including an interesting green dragonborn named Zesh’mila Sylvek. Zesh’mila talked to Traven about possibly offering up services or discounts in lieu of gold. While another participant was unhappy, Traven assured that if the unhappy participant were to win, Traven would pay the gold himself. Talking some more, Zesh was surprised that Traven favored the catlike Tao, as there was the half-orc, Kida, participating as well. Tao and Zesh got paired up together, and while she struggled, Tao managed to win. The finals ended up being Tao versus Kida, with Kida taking the gold, literally.
Meanwhile, Seraphina managed to find Mitsui and decided to follow her around to make sure she didn’t get into any trouble. Mitsui was wandering around town, looking at various signs and buildings. After having gone through most of the town, she returned to one specific shop, going in and buying potions before then leaving town. Mitsui settled by the river outside of town and tried to fish but failed. Seraphina, watching all this, came and talked to Mitsui, warning her the Zhentarim were in town. She then left some fishing gear for Mitsui before heading back to the Tavern. Mitsui managed to catch herself a fish for dinner as a result.
Back at the Tavern, Zesh approached Traven to thank him once again. She offered to help as thanks for supporting her. He asked her to identify a magic item, although did not want it done in public. Traven borrowed money from Zesh to pay for a room and took Zesh up there. She identified his glass globe as a driftglobe. They talked some more, and upon learning that Traven was with a group, she asked if he might consider allowing her to travel with them for a bit, as there is safety in numbers. Traven let her know he would discuss with the rest of the group.
Meanwhile, Tao got drunk and rented a room.
Upon returning to the inn, Seraphina was greeted by Kida who had also had a bit to drink. She told her that she won the contest and that the dragon lady owed her a favor, a discount or identifying something. Seraphina said they would talk about it more in the morning and got a room for the both of them.
In the morning, Tao went outside and saw Traven already there. Zesh was on her way back from the inn after finishing some leftover business she had in town, and they all greeted each other. They went in and ordered some food, Tao specifically ordering 30 plates worth of food, too much for a single table. Kida and Seraphina came down, and Seraphina started stealing food from Tao, whenever she could, making up plates for her and Kida. They talked about journeying together, with Zesh saying there is more protection in travelling with a group. The party agreed, and although Mitsui’s name was brought up a few times, Seraphina insisted that, “no, everyone was here.”
Overstuffed with food, Toa wasn’t planning on leaving anytime soon, so Seraphina slipped out to check on Mitsui. Not finding her by the river, she saw her tracks heading toward the road south of town. Believing that Mitsui was either leaving the group or heading into town by the south gate, she returned to the tavern and herded the group out the door and in the right direction, avoiding the road.
At this time, Jayr informed the group that he would stick around town a bit longer, and that it had been a pleasure travelling with them.
Heading out towards Flint Rock via a direct route, the group paused for a few moments to have Zesh identify a few more items for them. Some were magical but most were not. During this, a paper bird came towards Kida. Seraphina shot it down with her sling. Zesh picked up the scraps and cast mending multiple times to put it back together. It was a note to Kida, asking where she was as Mitsui was on the road waiting for them. The group agreed to go look for her.
FInding Mitsui, Seraphina told her to hurry up and join with the group before turning away from the road and back into the wild lands. Mitsui joined the group and hung back a bit with Kida while they talked for a while and Kida cried and laughed with the conversation and the paper bird flying around her head. Mitsui handed Kida a medium-sized bag with some stuff inside. Kida then went up to Tao and asked to see the Bag of Holding. She then took a few items out of the bag. She then asked Tao for Mitsui’s walking stick. Tao refused, saying Mitsui couldn’t be trusted with it. Kida insisted it wasn’t Tao’s, it was Mitsui’s, and that she has to give it back. Tao told Kida she’d have to take it by force, so Kida tried to take it.
Seeing the struggle, Traven cast Hold Person on Kida and Tao, although it only took effect on Kida. Seeing Kida no longer moving, Mitsui rushed in, and as a result, Seraphina cast Sleet Storm, thinking Mitsui had done something to Kida. As the storm ended, Seraphina tried to shoot Mitsui, who caught the arrow. Zesh tried to calm the group using magic, to no avail. Seraphina wanted to know what Mitsui did to Kida, but Kida said nothing, just because of how everyone was acting Mitsui was leaving. Mitsui then added about how bad Seraphina was and Xeric and Jayr already leave because of her, Lola died because Seraphina brought down the airship, Tao steals everything, and new guy doesn’t think before acting, and then after greeting Zesh, ever so politely in Draconic, warned Zesh about travelling with this group. She looked to Tao about her walking stick and said, “Keep it, but don’t regret it.”She then ran off towards Yar-Tar.
Shocked, the group took a few minutes to sort through all of this. They decided they had to keep going though and continued to Flint Rock. Once there, they heard the sounds of flute playing. They saw a little kobold sitting on a menhir, playing a flute. Traven, walking up the menhir, frightened the creature. They then started talking, Traven learning that this little kobold, Kurd the Urd, was an outcast as well. Traven tried to convince him to join the group, become a hero, make himself known, and make the change. Kurd agreed. Traven told Seraphina Kurd would be joining the group.
They dug around until they found a mythril spear head about 5 feet long and 75 pounds. They quickly bagged it in their Bag of Holding. They then headed off toward the main road, stopping in Calling Horn to resupply before continuing on, this time staying on the road. They went into the forest, hoping to find the Grandfather Tree.
After a few days of travel, the plant life suddenly grew like crazy. Our heroes could barely move. They were then ambushed by a bunch of tribals. They told them to “leave or die.” Our heroes refused to leave, telling them that they needed to pass through. As Seraphina started to fly up, the leader shot them.
The new group worked well together, with Traven and Kurd immobilizing many of them with magic, and Tao killing the puny humans with her claws. They finished the battle by killing the leader and capturing their magic user. Thus the world fell asleep, waiting to see what our heroes would do next.
