Crux finished cleaning out the library as Scalez returned to the inn for some much needed sleep. The next morning Lina and Fang left on their own, finding the last members of the nine to speak with.
They found Zanizyre first, who was only willing to speak in private with Fang. There he learned that she was BK’s creator, and willing to work with them, in exchange for the rule of Magia. She believed the circle simply held Magia back. She also warned Fang that if he spoke of this with anyone he would be dead. Lina listened in from the outside.
They then found Toshiyuki’s mansion. Approaching the door they fell into some quicksand. Fang quickly fell through but Lina managed to get out. She called over some people who helped Lina go back in as she looked for Fang.
Meanwhile, Fang had fallen into a room lit up by four torches. The walls and floor were made of wood, the floors were covered in tatami mats and there were some hanging on the walls as well. He took a minute to figure out what to do and decided to summon a living boulder to go through the sand to bring Lina down. She jumped down with it through the quicksand.
Exploring the room they caused a fireball trap to activate, catching both of them in the explosion. As they were investigating the room gas started filling the room, so our heroes used a living boulder to get back out. They walked around the quicksand this time, heading to the mansion’s door.
Fang started to pound on the doro calling out Toshiyuki’s name, but when there was no reply he rang the doorbell. When he pressed it a poison dart came out, hitting Fang, but he was able to avoid the poison. Toshiyuki said he would agree to an alliance if he could get a trap house in Reino, although he doubted they would allow it. Our heroes learned that the trap house had gold and magical items in it as rewards for those that made it through, although death was a very real threat in his trap house. Our heroes asked if they could go through the house, which Toshiyuki was all too pleased to have them do.
Fang spent a week training with Rove to learn some secret gobin skills, before he, Lina, and Scalez, who only needed to hear about treasure, all headed to the trap house. Crux on the other hand was not interested in the house and did not go.
Fang told Lina not to tell Scalez about the quicksand trap, which Scalez fell into but easily made it out of the trap. Going in to the trap house the first room had 3 doors on the opposite side. They deduced all 3 were trapped, the ones on the outside with a poisoned lock and the one on the inside with a falling door. Lina headed out to go buy some infiltrators tools before coming back only to see Scalez smashing through the door.
The next room had a drowning pit in the center, which our heroes noticed and started walking past. As they did, the trap door opened and some brine sharks attacked our heroes. They quickly grabbed Scalez and pulled him down under. Fang summoned a mudwretch to help, as Lina took aim to shoot and kill them off. Scalez, being a Lizardfolk, was no stranger to holding his breath underwater and fought them off before swimming back up.
