As time resumed once more Seraphina flew down to investigate the next building, Opening up she saw the ground covered in frozen over feces, realizing this was an outhouse she quickly returned to the rest of the party.
Moving on to the final building, they tried climbing down to get to the entrance, however Kida, Zesh, and Finn all fell into the frozen waters. Zest and Finn were protected thanks to their magic gear, but Kida managed to overcome thanks to her powerful body. Going into the next building they saw a giant boat, although it didn’t seem seaworthy. Along with the boat they saw some human size tens and fire pits. Going out to the other side they noticed a couple of frost giants playing catch with a giant chunk of ice. Another giant was ordering around some humans and yetis who were getting a boat out of the ice.
Our heroes decided to take a short break in here. They lit a fire and dried themselves off. Discussing what to do next, now that they had entered all the buildings and hadn’t found the jarl. They decided to fly up and try talking to the giants from a safe distance. As they did, Zesh cast thaumaturgy to increase the sound of her voice. As she did so the giants threw a chunk of ice but it didn’t reach them and were telling our heroes to leave. Seraphina realized they could not understand Zesh, and so Zesh cast tongues in order to speak with them.
After some persuasion, Zesh, with Seraphina’s help, managed to convince the giants to go see Hekaton. When Zesh realized no one was attuned to the couch, she said she would come back the next day. With that our heroes left for the day.
The next day, as the heroes returned, they saw a giant ship docked out front of the southernmost building. Chained on the deck was an adult white dragon, being guarded by a frost giant. Our heroes bypassed this into the mid section, where they saw 2 frost giants waiting in a ship. As Seraphina and Zesh approached the giants threw a chunk of ice, hitting the griffin and causing Zesh to start falling off. Thanks to Seraphina’s quick reflexes and skills with a griffon she managed to get Zesh seated once more.
They flew off, and coming back to the front they saw a larger number of frost giants now by the entrance of the southernmost building and on board ship. Our heroes were about to leave when Zesh decided to use sending to speak with the dragon. She asked if she could free it whether or not it would attack the frost giants. She learned it couldn’t due to the fact that its mate and eggs were being held hostage. Zesh then realized that the dragon they killed was this one’s mate. Feeling bad our heroes decided to try and free the eggs at least.
They figured the building where they saw the giants drinking must be the jarl’s place where the eggs were being kept. Going in they saw a group of 8 frost giants. The group engaged in combat with the giants. Finn started off by using a storm sphere. They then split the group into 2. Kida and Seraphina attacked the row on the bottom while Zesh and Finn attacked the row at the top. Finn was quickly knocked out as the giants, who seemed to have perfect accuracy, pelted Finn with chunks of ice.
Kida managed to hold her own with Seraphina slowly taking them down one by one as well. One of the giants ran up to the second floor. Zesh rushed to heal Finn up, but was subsequently taken down by the giants herself. Finn started to unleash his most powerful spells as he ran to hide behind a pillar. Two of the giants were moving in to flank him but Finn misty stepped out of the way. All of a sudden our heroes heard a loud horn being blown from above.
Our heroes hurried up to kill the giants before more arrived. Once the first floor was cleared out Kida gave Zesh a potion as a chunk of ice came their way. Our heroes hid under a table, Seraphina wanted to leave but after some deliberating decided to fly up and see what was going on. She turned invisible and headed up, as Finn cast haste on Kida, who then rushed up the stairs only to be pelted by a chunk of ice. Zesh and Finn stayed down underneath the table, as Kida had enough and showed them the real power of a barbarian, easily taking the giant out.
As Seraphina then explored the rest of the lodge, she lost her temper upon realizing they chose the wrong building. Rather than the jarl’s place they realized they had stormed the barracks. They then headed out back to the griffins and flew away as time yet again came to a stand still.
