Storm King’s Thunder Session 62 Recap

As time resumed for the final time, our heroes prepared to take out the dragon. Zesh, Kida, and Seraphina drank their potions of giant’s size and the group headed towards Iymrith’s home. As they were approaching the enemy used trebuchets to try and hamper our heroes and the storm giants. Lucky for our heroes the gargoyles manning the trebuchets had terrible aim.

Mitsui sprinted forwards, running up the wall of the auditorium stands to start engaging the gargoyles, who quickly swarmed her, as Seraphina took aim and shot at them with her bow. Hekaton and the giants stormed forward, Hekaton yelling and swearing at Iymrith.

Zesh and Hekaton were the first two into the auditorium. Seraphina managed to destroy one of the trebuchets during this time. Unfortunately, as Zesh was heading towards the second one, Iymrith popped out from the ground and unleashed her lightning breath, directly into Zesh’s face. Zesh recoiled for a second, before a second breath came her way. She then withdrew in order to heal up. The giants stormed in, but Hekaton in particular was unexpectedly frightened by the dragon’s intimidating presence. Mitsui charged towards Iymrith, avoiding the gargoyles, and started punching the dragon. The dragon’s attention was split between one of the storm giants and Mitsui, interrupting their attacks and surprising them with tail attacks.

Kida started to head in as well, as the grounds themselves shot lightning at her. She fought through the gargoyles to reach Hekaton as Mitsui disappeared after a hit. She drank a couple of potions, becoming as large as a giant herself and started whaling on the dragon once more. Hekaton was still frightened, but the other giants had regained their composure. Unfortunately the gargoyles, while not strong individually, as a group were doing some serious damage to the giants, although they seemed to struggle to hit our heroes.

Iymrith dug down back into the earth, with Mitsui on her back, to get away from everything. Once there, some yuan-ti that served Iymrith quickly flocked to Mitsui, who just kept whaling away on the dragon. Up above, the giants took the opportunity to destroy some of the gargoyles as Zesh healed them up a bit. Finn finally arrived, having lagged behind the rest of the group. Hekaton, Kida, and one of Hekaton’s men jumped down down the hole as well, just long enough to see a bloody Mitsui finish off the dragon, as a demonic presence came from Mitsui and engulfed the dragon’s head.

With that, Mitsui flew off, as the rest of the group regathered. Hekaton could feel the ordning was restored. He promised our heroes he would make sure the giants would not harm the small folk, and thanked each of them for their heroics, shaking each of their hands and offering to take them where they would like to go. Thus our heroes finally achieved the end of their journey, and the world was able to enjoy the peace brought to them by a small group of adventurers who happened to come together, whether by chance or by fate.
