Infra Session 30 Recap

After congratulating our heroes and stepping outside, they saw the skies had darkened as they saw lightning crashing down and could hear the roar of the thunder. X could tell that this lightning wasn’t quite natural. When X showed some concern about it being the boogeymen, Toshiyuki said there was nothing to worry about, their barrier would keep them out. Unfortunately, as though just to prove him wrong, in that instant,  the barrier cracked open.

Striking down from the lightning the boogeymen started to appear, and, next to our heroes was Mirari, who seemed to barely respond to his old friend, Fang. When Toshiyuki attempted to defend the town, but was quickly shot down by Mirari. Toshiyuki took the moment to disappear, and X insulted Mirari, who immediately cast the fear spell, resulting in X’s immediate death.

The first then came out, as a duel between the mages took place. Fang realized that Mirari was casting not just arcane spells, but divine, and occult spells as well. The First and Mirari seemed to be almost equally matched, although Mirari seemed to slowly be getting the upper hand, when Mitsui came out shouting enough. Mitsui offered herself up in exchange for the protection of the people. An old man who had been skulking around Mirari agreed to this, and Mitsui insisted that X be revived. The old man told Mirari to go ahead and do so, and so be brought X back to life.

Our heroes then urged the First to reconsider an alliance with Reino. The First was not overly interested, but did agree the council needed to meet to discuss what just happened. He also invited our group to join him. An hour later the meeting commenced, with one seat empty, Mitsui’s.

Our heroes pointed out the need for Reino, where there wouldn’t need to rely only on magic. They pointed out that due to the barrier, Magia hadn’t experienced the boogeymen and didn’t have the experience that Reino had. In the end our heroes managed to convince everyone but Darwar to vote in favour of joining. The First indicated he would be heading to Reino with them to discuss the alliance.

The trip to Reino was fairly uneventful, and our heroes quickly introduced The First to king Leos. They learned that there were some concerns about Rudolph, as he had been gone for quite some time now. X agreed to take on this quest, and learned they could officially take the quest on at the Tavern to the Winds. Once there our heroes also learned of 2 additional questions. One to investigate some new found ruins in the dwarven mines and a second to help the elves with a lizard problem. There was some disagreement between our heroes as to what to do, but in the end they decided to head to Rudolph first.

All but Fang decided to go out on the town that night. They ended up at a bar where they decided to do some gambling, they played a game called Bounder. Lina made a bit of money, but X and Scalez both lost, including taking on a loan that they would need to pay back, and lost that gold too. Scalez even ended up finding some drug dealers and convinced them to give him some drugs to sell. With that everyone returned to the inn to call it a night.

As our heroes were leaving town, to head to Portia and take a ship to the northern mountains, they were stopped by one of the guards. He asked questions about when X and Scalez would be returning and why they were leaving, since they owed money to Mr. Nails Malone. When Fang learned of what had happened he was upset and disappointed in his companions, especially when he learned that Scalez had also obtained some drugs. He did however pay off their debt.

Scalez and Fang fought on the way to Portia, with Fang getting Lina to steal some of the drugs. Scalez then took some drugs but seemed unaffected by them. He then stole Fang’s bag of holding in retaliation. Fang then started locking Scalez out of his Cozy Cabin. In the end everything was resolved and our heroes made it to Portia. They purchased some cold weather clothing and obtained passage on a ship to the northern mountains, arriving in Shiver Town.
