Our heroes took a moment to heal their wounds when a ratfolk named Dreg stealthily approached. Sent by Wrin, Dreg offered his assistance, sensing the heroes might need extra help.
With their new ally, the heroes pressed on, discovering a room with a large hole teeming with mitflits. They swiftly dispatched the creatures, but their victory was short-lived. As they debated their next move, a mitflit peeked through the door, only to retreat in fear upon seeing them. The heroes pursued and found a skeleton wielding a morningstar. Ready for battle, they soon realized it was a mere puppet held by wires. Cutting it down, they claimed the magical morningstar.
Their journey led them to a chamber where a mitflit with a stone crown sat on a throne, attended by mitflits and a spiderlike creature. A map of Otari, drawn in sand, caught their eye, but the crowned mitflit, Boss Skrawng, quickly erased it with his trident. Skrawng, confused about how they knew his plans before he even attacked Otari, revealed that his people had been ousted from their home below by beings with mushroom eyes, led by a priest who could make your brain hurt just by looking at you. Intimidated by Asterion, Skrawng pleaded for their help in reclaiming his home, promising gems in return.
The heroes continued to the lighthouse, finding a pool of fresh blood but no body. They burned the blood and ascended to the top, discovering a glass dome large enough to hold a human. Unsure of its purpose, they decided to delve deeper into the dungeon.
Unlocking a previously sealed door, they entered a laboratory filled with notes on necromancy and constructs. There, they found a limbless goblin doll with a hole in its back, perfectly sized for the soul gem they had found earlier. Inserting the gem, the doll came to life, laughing and crying before revealing that its master, Volluk, was a vain man who could be manipulated by threatening nice artwork of him. Volluk also had a mysterious relationship with a “book lady” below. The doll, begging for release from its suffering, provided crucial information before the heroes granted its wish.
Descending further, they entered a vast library and faced off against undead creatures. The battle was fierce, but their resolve remained unshaken.
