The heroes explored the vault, uncovering a trove of discoveries. Among the most critical were ancient books and a lattice that shed light on the true nature of the lenses—and, more importantly, revealed how to defeat Belcorra. With new purpose guiding them, they pressed onward.
Their exploration brought them to a tranquil chamber of fresh water, but the stillness didn’t last. While inspecting the remains of a nearby strange creature, they were ambushed by a massive mole-like beast with a foul, oozing substance dripping from its teeth. It struck quickly, paralyzing Bags with its venom. Torren rushed to her aid, carrying her away, but he too was paralyzed in short order. With quick thinking and determination, the party held the line and managed to defeat the beast before further harm could be done. Once their allies were restored, the group took time to rest and recover.
Fully healed, they resumed their search, stumbling upon a pool of black ooze. After careful investigation, they realized it was all that remained of a long-dead creature. Naturally, they attempted to collect some as a sample. Their path then led them southward, into a passage thick with the stench of decay. The cause was soon revealed—a fungus-dwelling creature emerged and lashed out, but it proved no match for the party’s growing strength.
Their journey brought them face to face with a set of towering double doors, forged from swirling black and green stone. Though clearly significant, the doors bore no handles, only a keyhole. Choosing caution over curiosity—for now—they left them undisturbed.
Further exploration led them to a gruesome hallway soaked in carnage, with scattered bones and long-dried blood staining the floor. As they followed a sound echoing from a nearby corridor, they caught a glimpse of something truly abhorrent waiting in the darkness beyond.
Weapons ready and nerves steeled, our heroes prepared for yet another clash in the depths of the Vault. Something foul awaits.
