The group fought back, but as the fight escalated, Xeiros summoned a pack of spiritual wolves, blocking the door and preventing reinforcements from spilling into the battlefield. Realizing they were cut off, some of the lizardfolk opted for a different route, circling around through a back door and diving into the river.
The battle intensified when trolls arrived, drawn by the chaos. Upon spotting Eeyore’s massive two-headed form, they assumed he was one of their own and called for his aid in capturing “the snacks”—the heroes. Seizing the opportunity, Valerian and Eeyore, both fluent in Giant, persuaded the trolls to turn on the lizardfolk instead. The monstrous creatures wasted no time, gleefully devouring their former allies.
Soon, a group of human cultists appeared, only to realize the tide had turned against them. They attempted to flee, but Valerian, now enlarged, pursued them with deadly precision, cutting them down before additional foes emerged to challenge him. Meanwhile, the rest of the heroes continued their battle, striking down the remaining lizardfolk, though one managed to slip away.
As the trolls moved toward Valerian, his spirit guardians lashed out, wounding them. Enraged at what they saw as betrayal, the trolls roared in fury and prepared to strike back. With some quick thinking, the group managed to calm them before the situation escalated further.
With the last of the cultists defeated, Valerian continued his pursuit of the fleeing lizardfolk, only to encounter a hag lurking nearby. Introducing herself as Thuluna, she offered the heroes a bargain—a powerful sword in exchange for the death of Gar Shatterkeel, the leader of the cult. Recognizing the opportunity, the group agreed to the deal. Without hesitation, the hag led them to a door and cracked it open, revealing what lay beyond.
