As time resumed, our friendly Kobold decided to start playing music at Danivarr’s House, having made an agreement with the owner for a free room. Playing the music however was just a pretence to pay attention to the clientele, as Kurd was waiting for a certain trio of red dragonborn to come in. When they did, he listened in to the conversations but only heard them talking about magic and spells, and upon learning each of their names, learned that none of them were who he was looking for.
Upon arriving at Danivarr’s House, Kida and Seraphina caught up with Dral, the proprietaire, before Kurd informed them that they had a room that was covered. When everyone ended up going to bed, Kurd crawled under a bed as his own sleeping spot.
Our heroes left Everlund, once again, in order to continue to Stone Stand. While journeying, they encountered a Fire Giant dig site. Seraphina snuck over to see better and noticed a large group made up of a Fire Giant, a group of ogres, a group of hobgoblins, and at least a dozen goblins, trying to get a metal object out of the ground. Our heroes decided this was not a fight worth having and snuck past the site.
A few days later, our heroes managed to find Stone Stand. A single large tree was present, and as Seraphina approached it, a ghost popped out and possessed her. Unsure as to what to do, our heroes tried a variety of things, but nothing worked, until Zesh used her Turn Undead feature. With the ghost gone, our heroes thought they could start looking for the relic; however a second ghost appeared shortly after. They killed this one, only to have a third appear. They killed it as well and began wondering how to stop these things from appearing. Deciding it must be the tree, when the fourth one appeared, they started trying to tear it apart. Most of their attacks against the tree either didn’t damage it or missed completely; truly, this tree was the bane of their existence. Meanwhile, the fourth ghost possessed Kida and the party had to start fighting her.
They eventually killed the fourth ghost, which let out a scream as it died, and continued bashing away at the tree, tearing it down. Traven was certain that a giant skull was causing the issue, and was correct, as our heroes found a giant skull buried well under the tree. Thus time came to a standstill, with our heroes having found yet another relic.
