As time resumed, our heroes were readying to leave, hoping to get Kida back to town in order to resurrect her. Unfortunately, a flock of giant ravens appeared, each with a tribal rider on top. One of them came down in the middle of the group and cast Spiritual Guardians. The party had a hard time dealing with this, as Zesh was knocked unconscious. Kurd made sure to heal her, while Seraphina cast Sleet storm, hoping to knock some of these flying beings down. They managed to kill their assailants before rushing to Silverymoon.
Once in Silverymoon, they headed to a temple, looking for someone to resurrect Kida. Alas, they were quoted a high price and informed they would need to return the next day, as no one was available to cast the spell at the moment. Having nothing else to do, our heroes decided to retire to the inn for the night, wondering how they would pay for the resurrection of Kida.
While they were sleeping, Tao heard a knock on her door. Upon answering it, she saw the innkeeper who informed her that there was someone there to see her and was wondering if she would come with him. Tao agreed and was led downstairs, where a little hunched gnome in brown garments was waiting for her. The gnome told Tao that she had heard she was looking for someone to resurrect someone. She said that she had a way to bring someone back from the dead if interested, although the cost for such an action would be 2,000 gold. With this being much less costly than what Tao was previously quoted, she accepted the offer. The gnome asked Tao to keep this on the down low, as she was sure the elves wouldn’t be happy to hear about this. As such, she would prefer to perform the act somewhere a bit more discreet.
Leaving town, they went to a secluded area where the gnome began casting the ritual. Although Kida’s lifeless body remained still, a new body seemed to be formed. Suddenly, a full grown adult tortle was in their presence. The tortle questioned why she saw her body in front of her. As it turns out, the tortle was Kida, and the gnome had cast Reincarnate. Kida was somewhat shocked as she now had a shell, a fact that she quite enjoyed. She and Tao returned to the inn,and Kida slept in Tao’s room for the night.
The next morning, Kurd left the inn to take care of some personal stuff.
Seraphina was downstairs getting breakfast as a tortle came and sat nearby her. As the tortle started talking and proclaimed itself to be Kida, Seraphina questioned her and quickly realized that this was indeed her friend. One by one, our heroes came down and learned that Kida was back. Kida kept exclaiming with excitement that she now had a shell. The group then started to decorate Kida’s shell. Kurd came back during this time, sat down at the bar, wondered who this tortle was, and ordered a drink. Once the party finished decorating Kida’s shell, they headed off towards Beorunna’s Well.
On the way, they encountered a group of three ogres. The ogres were arguing about which way to go to get home to Ironslag. Kurd went up to them and, after talking with them, flew up to get a good feel for where the mountains were. He then directed the ogres north. They were a bit curious as to whether Kurd tasted like halfling, since they liked halfing. Kurd assured them he did not. They went on their merry way, and our heroes continued towards Beorunna’s Well.
Once again, they were ambushed by a group of tribals but made quick work of them. They then found a huge hole in the ground leading to a cavern. Doing a bit of quick investigation, they saw some more tribals. They decided to take a rest before trying to get the next relic. Thus time came to a stand still, as the world waited for what our heroes would do next.
