Storm King’s Thunder Session 39 Recap

As time resumed, our favourite kenku Mitsui strolled right into the middle of the giants. Upon seeing her, the two storm giantesses immediately inquired about her purpose here. While Mitsui started to recount her journey to the Oracle and saving the world, Seraphina and the others hid in the shadows of the walls thanks to her Pass Without a Trace spell. The giantesses agreed to bring Mitsui’s concerns to Princess Serissa, but in due time, as the princess was much too busy at this time, and Mitsui would need to stay in the guest quarters until the princess was ready to see her. A storm giant escorted Mitsui to the quest quarters below.

As the storm giantess Nym headed through the doors to the south, our heroes took advantage of the doors being opened and rushed through as well. There they saw Serissa. While initially suspicious, she wanted to hear our heroes’ story. None of the other three storm giants in the room, Serissa’s uncle Uthor, her sister Nym, and her advisor Iymrith, wanted to listen though. Still, they listened to Serissa, who had been made queen when her father disappeared.

While discussing, Iymrith suggested they might be the ones who had murdered her mother and abducted her father. Picking up on this, Zane jumped in and started questioning her. Trapping her using her own words, Iymrith started to curse in Draconic.

Meanwhile, Serissa’s other sister, Mirran, went to get Mitsui. She told Mistui that her sister was ready to see her. Upon getting up to the second floor, Mitsui was ambushed by all the giants in the room. Not wanting to fight, Mitsui rushed away, heading towards the doors she saw before. She managed to avoid the giants due to her great agility and speed.

Joining her companions, there was already a bit of a tussle happening. Iymrith had pushed Serissa and was trying to take her scepter. As Uthor tried to interject himself, and our heroes weren’t sure what to do. Giving up on the scepter, Iymrith teleported away.

Having won Serissa’s trust, she gave our heroes a wooden coin with a golden goose on it. This was found with her dead mother’s body. Serissa had not mentioned this to anyone but hoped it would help our heroes find her father. Our heroes took it and agreed to investigate. They decided to head to Neverwinter and begin their investigation there.

While Zane attuned to a meditation chamber, which would allow him to teleport the group out of there, the rest of our heroes explored the hold. Mitsui rushed to see the view of the ocean outside, having never been under the ocean before. Zesh tried speaking with some of the giant lords. Some were more pleasant than others, but they only seemed to speak with her out of respect for Serissa. Seraphina and Kida explored as much of the castle as they could, followed by a storm giant guard.

FInally, the time came to go to Neverwinter. Alas, Zane left the meditation chamber, and thus broke his connection to it. He therefore needed to reconnect to it, spending another hour. Luckily, our heroes were able to successfully teleport to Neverwinter.

Mitsui led them to find Daerivoss, whom she asked for assistance. Daerivoss agreed to help, and after a few days, had information that this belonged to the Grand Dame, a gambling ship in Yarter owned by Lord Drylund. Our heroes decided to head off as the world came to a close.
