As our heroes continue their journey, the decide to take a look at Seraphina’s map. They realize Goldenfields is to the south west and change direction a bit. Upon arriving at Goldenfields they saw that the town was under reconstruction, although it was mostly complete. Asking around they learned that about a year ago the town had been attacked by some hill giants. They were doing ok now and had been left alone since. Our heroes learned that the giants had come from the north east, in the same direction as the river. Thus they decided to follow the river in hopes of coming across the giants.
It took a few days but they finally came across a very large building. A second building was just on the outside, and Finn approached it. On the inside was a hobgoblin working away on some shaudy giant sized weaponry. Finn tried to make some conversation with the hobgoblin but she wasn’t having it, especially as Finn started to walk in. Seraphina used the opportunity to sneak in unnoticed.
Hearing that there was some crafting going on, Zesh approached, hopeful to have found a kindred spirit. The hobgoblin agreed to show Zesh around under the condition that Finn stepped out and stayed out. Zesh managed to convince Finn and then excitedly walked in. She saw that the workmanship was rather…unrefined. She tried to give the hobgoblin some advice but she didn’t want to hear it. This upset Zesh, who stepped out and started casting Fabricate. As the spell finished the giant club that was being worked on started to twist and turn into an ugly piece of trash. Seraphina used the opportunity to cast Fear on the 3 residents. 2 of them fled, but one goblin stayed behind.
Our heroes looked around a bit further and went along the side of the building. They saw a watch tower and made sure to be careful while sneaking past, hoping that their clumsy duo wouldn’t get them all caught. Their next obstacle was a large, heavy curtain, which seraphina couldn’t budge but Tao moved aside with no issue. They then saw a little hafling tied to a post surrounded by goblins. Outraged Seraphian had the group rush in to scare the goblins. Working together the group managed to terrify the goblins. They managed to convince the goblins to let the halfing go.
During this time a hobgoblin showed up by Finn in the rear. The two talked a bit but Finn was unable to convince the Hobgoblin to help and the Hobgoblin couldn’t convince Finn to leave. The hobgoblin managed to escape and just moments later a loud gong was run.
Our heroes convinced the already scared goblins to scamper away, as they engaged some giants, goblins, and ogres that started entering from the other room. The giants tried to make jelly out of Kida and Zesh, squishing them beneath them. Some hobgoblins came around the rear, but Finn and Seraphina took care of them. Slowly a large fat giant that couldn’t even walk was carted in on a wagon. She kept yelling out orders to all the others. Zsz’dax Misty Stepped to the rafters on the other side. The giants tossed some boulders at him breaking the rafters beneath him. Some of the goblins shot at him too, but he managed to convince them to team up with him.
Our heroes managed to kill all of the giants. They found another conch of teleportation. They also found a fair amount of loot amongst the hill giants’ belongings. Thus time came to a standstill once more.
