Storm King’s Thunder Session 60 Recap

As time resumed our heroes debated on what to do next. The group was torn, they had had enough of fighting the giants. They wanted to restore the ordening.  They struggled greatly in their fight against the frost giants, and weren’t sure if they could handle any more of this. They leaned towards simply telling Hekaton they were ready to help him fight IIymrith. Seraphina started the process of attuning to their conch of teleportation, while Zesh sent Hekaton a message letting him know they were on their way.

Kida went to talk to Mitsui, who showed concern that she wasn’t strong enough to fight the dragon yet. She thought fighting the cloud giants might help her prepare. Plus wizard hat was on his way. Going back to the group, Kida found Seraphina questioning the same thing. In the end, it turns out Seraphina and Mitsui shared the same thought, and decided to fight the cloud giants. Unfortunately, the method on how to get there is something they disagreed on. Mitsui insisted on waiting for wizard hat, while Seraphina and the rest of the party wanted to teleport to the Maelstrom and use the meditation room to head to waterdeep and do some shopping and get some supplies.

Mitsui finally caved while sending another bird to wizard hat. Once they reached the Maelstrom, a storm giant was waiting to escort our heroes. He brought them to king Hekaton, but Mitsui just walked straight past him to the meditation cave.  Hekaton was very confused and called out for Mitsui, who kept heading to the meditation cave. One of the guards picked Mitsui up and brought her back to Hekaton, who then gave our heroes gifts. He provided the heroes with a claw of the wyrm rune as well as one potion of giant size for each member.

Hekaton then proceeded to bring them to the meditation cave, with Mitsui rushing to the front of the line so she could attune to it. Once in the room, our heroes apologized to Hekaton and told him they had actually decided they wanted to face the cloud giants first. They also vaguely remembered that the cave could do more than just teleport, so inquired about it to learn it could also cast clairvoyance, identify, and sending in addition to the teleport they already knew it could do. Hekaton told them not to use the potions or lose them, at which point our heroes each returned their potion, with Mitsui simply haphazardly throwing the bottle which Seraphina was able to catch. Once Mitsui finished attuning to the room she teleported to wizard hat’s tower.

Mitsui jumped down from the second floor trying to surprise Zephyros, while Zesh was now more confused than ever as Zephyros was not wearing a “witch hat”as she put it. Mitsui talked to Zephyros who agreed to take our heroes to Waterdeep and then to see Countess Sansuri. Mitsui once again tried to read books, but Zephyros decided this time to cast modify memory to make MItsui think she read all the books and they were just journals of what the clouds looked like.

Zephyros also brought Seraphina up to meet her friend Phantomquill’s new baby. Seraphina was a bit worried when she realized Phantomquill never left, as he was simply loaned to her. She wondered whether she should go back, and hoped with her new found wealth she could make amends.

In Waterdeep, Zesh looked for a way to send money back to her home while our heroes did a bit of shopping for supplies and gear. They didn’t spend too long before heading off to see Sansuri.

Our heroes debated on how to enter, whether to go in guns blazing, try sneaking in, or simply walk in. They decided on the latter, but as they approached they heard the sounds of a dragon roaring. Deciding to investigate first, Seraphina changed to her bat form and snuck in. She snuck through a window into a room full of caged griffins, and snuck under a door, where she saw giantess wearing a mask whipping and torturing a bronze dragon that was muzzled and chained up. The giantess kept asking him questions about Ostaria, which the dragon couldn’t answer.

Seraphina flew back to her party and they decided they had to help the dragon, and would try sneaking it. Thus the world came to standstill once more.
