As the world awoke, our heroes had to face the fact that Xeric was no longer with them. They slowly gathered themselves up and took a look outside the ship. They noticed a group of very large ravens flying around the air, as well as a giant stone raven statue. They had reached Raven Rock.
Mitsui got off first, jumping off the ship. Getting a closer look at the statue she noticed carcases at the foot of the statue. As she approached it, she found dead animals resting at the foot, as if in a ritual. Disturbing it, the Ravens started to caw. Mitsui then stopped and went off hunting as she saw a deer.
Seraphina pulled a druid trick and used Speak With Animals to talk with the ravens. At first, they didn’t respond, but she did eventually manage to get them to talk to her. Still, they weren’t very informative or friendly, as they just told Seraphina to “leave” and this was “their area.”
Killing the deer and going over to the corpse, Mitsui started to drag it away when she noticed a humanoid face buried in snow. A bit of blood had run onto the face, and as Mitsui investigated it, the eyes suddenly opened. Mitsui questioned the person in the snow for a bit before heading back to the statue with the deer corpse. The new person followed. Mitsui tossed the deer corpse on to the rest of the carrion.
The rest of our party members came down around this time. They learned the stranger’s name was Traven. They offered to bring him to a local town or something similar. Seraphina and Tao wandered around, investigating the Raven Rock statue, the cairns, the menhir, and an altar in a wolf-shaped depression. They found nothing though.
Wondering if there really was something here, Mitsui started asking for random items from her Rod of the Vonidod. One of her first guesses was a giant ring, which she managed to get a response from. Pulling Hark’s old shield out of her new, odd, purple bag of holding, she started digging. A few hours later, she managed to find a large magical ring, seemingly having been made of magma. Mitsui wore it as a belt.
Thinking there may be something else, Seraphina asked Mitsui to use her rod again and managed to locate a giant greatclub. It was under the altar in the wolf-shaped depression. She once again started digging. As night came, a group of wolves approached. Our heroes were ready to quickly tear them apart, but then a few of them transformed into man-wolf hybrids, werewolves.
They attacked our heroes, two biting Kida and Traven. Once defeated, Kida and Traven felt a strange kinship towards each other. Kida also had an unusual craving for flesh. Our heroes were concerned the two may have been infected with lycanthropy. Everyone got onboard the ship for the night, and in the morning, Jayr made sure to Remove Curse on both Kida and Traven.
A bit suspicious of Traven, Seraphina chose to head to Luskan, rather than Icewind Dale and home. Upon arrival in Luskan, they noticed smoke in the distance. Investigating the smoke, they found a giant’s ship on fire. Mitsui went down and explored, using her opal to extinguish fires in her path. The boat was full of charred frost giant corpses. Mitsui gathered up a fair bit of gold and jewelry while exploring the ship. Our heroes then returned to Luskan. Seraphina opted to stay on board the Airship, after buying a shovel in Luskan, wanting to think over her experiences thus far.
In a tavern, the rest of the group set up a small arm wrestling tournament. Although it was Tao’s idea, Traven was the one to get people signed up. 10 people in total, with a small pay in, all signed up for this contest. Tao managed to win and got all of the money. They drank the night away before heading back to the ship to sleep. In the morning, they headed to their next destination: Morgue’s Mound.
Upon arriving, they noticed the area had already been excavated. The ground itself looked like a giant lizard with bones shooting out of its back. Traven did a bit of digging and managed to find a magical glass ball, before Mitsui used her rod and found giant gold, attached to a giant tooth. As soon as she dug it up and pulled it out, four large skeletons surrounded our heroes. Thus the world grew weary and a dark mist covered it, waiting for the world to awaken once more.
