Upon the return to our heroes, they quickly made their way to Corvix. Seeing that he was ok, they sighed a sigh of relief. Mitsui, still pretending to be the chief, convinced the imprisoned Yakfolk to leave the village for one month while she/he stayed undercover to learn more about these “interlopers.” Seraphina made packs for them and sent them on their way.
One the slaves, an elf who had been serving directly under chief Kartha-Kaya, introduced herself as Halani and asked our heroes to escort her and her companions back to the Moonwood, from whence she came. Our heroes debated and decided that they had to get the conch first and would revisit the idea later.
Trying to find a way down, they came across a giant gate, which they managed to open, followed by a heavy portcullis, which they blew up. They then debated going down the mines or using the elevator. They decided to use the elevator, with Seraphina trying to remember how far down they needed to go.
They got off on the lower level of Iron Slag. Using the rod, they were directed towards the northeast. They came across the same room with 30 some odd goblins that Seraphina noped out of during her solo exploration. Our heroes debated what to do but eventually decided to just casually walk through as if they belonged there. This worked, and they continued to what seemed to be a bedroom. They were led to a chest which had a combo lock on it. They tried to pick it, with little success. They tried a couple of combinations with no success. Mitsui, inspired by who knows what, suggested the combination 727. To everyone’s surprise, it worked.
Once the chest was opened, Seraphina jumped inside and started looking for the conch, throwing out coins, gems, and magic items before finally finding it. They started looting the rest of the room, taking clothes and anything else of worth. Tao took a gown made of gold ingots and rings and wore it, although it was quite big on her. Mitsui asked them if they could get her stuff, which she said was in the east. Her companions agreed, but, leaving the room, the goblins panicked and told Tao she needed to return the duchess’s dress upon seeing her in it. Tao went back and started disassembling the robe to get as much gold as she could, while Mitsui continued to look for her stuff, stopping at a closed door.
When the group rejoined Mitsui, they took a short rest so Zesh could attune to a magical mace she had found in the bedroom. They then proceeded through the door, finding it filled with goblins, ogres, mephits, and the Fire Giant duchess herself, Brimskarda. Mitsui walked in and unleashed a dark energy, causing many of the creatures in the room, and Brimskarda, to start running away in terror. Mitsui continued hunting the duchess as the others took care of the small fry. She managed to kill the duchess and reclaimed her bag of holding. Now what will our heroes do next?
