- A group of adventurers gathered at Wrin’s Wonders where there friend, Wrin Sivinxi, an elven tiefling whose special eyes allowed her to see what others could not, asked our heroes to investigate a strange pale blue light she saw from the nearby Gauntlight ruins. The heroes included
- Derek, a dragon who called himself an eldamon trainer.
- Emberveil, a small leshy who resembled a cat, a burning fire elemental avatar.
- Hellebore Silvae, a nymph druid and her little leshy companion Hod
- Sol’andrus Spellblade, an elven magus true to his name
- Syphir, the groups second dragon, a monk and master of the fist
- The heroes decided to investigate at night, in hopes of being able to see the light themselves.
- Upon reaching the Gauntlight Ruins they saw a place ruined by time.
- Our heroes first investigated a guard house, where Derek shrunk in size and flew up to get a peak through some small cracks. Inside he saw small blue creatures, speaking in some unknown language.
- Identifying them as a type of trouble-making gremlins known as mitflits, our heroes rushed in, surprising the creatures who began to throw darts at our heroes before quickly meeting their deaths.
- Continuing forward, our heroes saw a bridge which they identified as trapped in the event medium creatures tried to cross. They did a bit of construction to reinforce it before moving ahead.
- On the other side of the door, our heroes entered the main ruins. Here they saw evidence of a battle from long ago, as the walls were marked with various scorch marks. They also saw two more mitflits training a very large maggot, who charged our heroes as they entered the room.
- Our heroes defeated the creatures, however not before the maggot threw up over our heroes.
- Continuing their exploration, our heroes encountered a couple more maggots, who yet again made sure to throw up all over our heroes before our heroes managed to defeat them.
- In the same room our heroes found evidence of a dragon, as there was a large frog-like creature whose hind legs had been bitten off.
- Opening another door our heroes fought a giant fly, and upon thinking they had won a second fly came zooming into. Our heroes won the fight, although Sol had been knocked unconscious.
- Our heroes went through the hole in the wall, noticing a light flickering on a pier. They decided to go over to it to investigate.
- On their way, they found the smoldering remains of a recent campfire. They also found some fishcakes, popular treats from Crook’s Nook, a tavern known for selling Otari’s best seafood.
- Our heroes approached the light, with Emberveil thinking it must be a sign from the gods, however as Derek flew over to it, it turned out to be a flickerwisp, causing Derek to get confused and attack Syphir before our heroes defeated the whisp.
The adventure began at Wrin’s Wonders, where Wrin Sivinxi, an elven tiefling blessed (or cursed) with special sight, tasked the group with investigating a mysterious pale blue light shining from the Gauntlight ruins. The party consisted of an eclectic mix of individuals, each bringing a unique spark to the ensemble:
- Derek, a draconic eldamon trainer with a penchant for shrinking down and soaring above.
- Emberveil, a fiery, feline-esque leshy whose flame was as bright as their faith.
- Hellebore Silvae, a serene nymph druid, accompanied by her devoted leshy companion, Hod.
- Sol’andrus Spellblade, an elven magus as sharp as his namesake.
- Syphir, a draconic monk whose fists were poetry in motion.
Under the cover of night, the group ventured into the ancient, crumbling ruins of the Gauntlight. Their first stop was a decrepit guardhouse, where Derek’s diminutive aerial reconnaissance revealed small blue gremlins—the mischievous mitflits. The heroes ambushed the creatures, cutting their dart-throwing antics short.
Further exploration brought them to a trapped bridge. Not ones to be deterred by a mere engineering challenge, the group reinforced the structure and pressed on. In the main ruins, remnants of a bygone battle adorned the walls. Two more mitflits, accompanied by a grotesque oversized maggot, were the next to fall, though not without the maggot making its displeasure known—violently.
Their march through the ruins was marred by repeated encounters with yet more maggots, whose nauseating attacks ensured the group would not remain unscathed. Amongst the gore, they discovered traces of draconic activity, evidenced by a mutilated frog-like beast missing its hind legs.
Opening yet another door unleashed a new menace: a pair of giant flies. Though the party emerged victorious, the fight left Sol’andrus unconscious—proof that danger lurked around every corner.
Pressing on, the group found a makeshift campfire and tantalizing hints of recent visitors—fishcakes from Crook’s Nook, no less. Intrigued, they followed the flickering light emanating from a pier. Emberveil saw divine providence in the glow, but as Derek approached, the truth revealed itself—a flickerwisp, whose confusion spell caused chaos as Derek turned against Syphir. Fortunately, teamwork and determination won the day, and the flickerwisp was vanquished.
The session ended with the party standing amidst the eerie glow of the ruins, questions and dangers still swirling in the cold night air. What lies deeper within the Gauntlight’s shadowed halls? Only time will tell.
