In a dark chamber adorned with glass pillars, the adventurers faced the formidable Witchfire Warden, a ghostly entity cloaked in green flames. With a flicker of malice, the Warden summoned a Will-o’-Wisp, targeting Slych, the tengu air kineticist. But hope flickered as Sol’andriel, the champion of Sarenrae, stepped in with a Retributive Strike, granting Slych the fortitude to withstand the Wisp’s relentless assault. Despite the Wisp’s fierce attacks, Slych stood strong, bolstered by Sol’andriel’s unwavering protection.
With courage, Sol’andriel engaged the Warden directly, striking with his ghost touch weapon, while Lightwing, the dragon mage, cast a powerful Heal, restoring Sol’andriel’s vitality. Slych unleashed a devastating Vitality Blast against the Warden, and Shadow Bell summoned a tempest, striking their spectral foe, though the Warden managed to shrug off some damage. Shadow Bell also stabilized Sol’andriel, ensuring their champion remained in the fight.
The Warden retaliated with a wave of despair, momentarily hindering both Sol’andriel and Shadow Bell. Yet, the champion quickly recovered, striking back with renewed vigor, while Lightwing intimidated the ghostly foe. In a moment of brilliance, Slych landed a critical blow with an Elemental Blast, followed by Shadow Bell’s grappling attempt with Murderous Vine, uncovering the Warden’s weakness to cold. As the Warden faltered, Slych executed a decisive strike that ended its existence, and Shadow Bell dispelled the lingering Will-o’-Wisp, bringing a hard-fought victory.
After the combat, the party took a moment to heal and assess their surroundings. They discovered a glass-encased pillar containing charred remains and valuable items. With a decisive smash, they retrieved mystical Bands of Force and a Spacious Pouch. Shadow Bell’s keen senses detected an illusion among the glass pillars, revealing a hidden passage that Slych bravely explored, leading to a trapdoor.
Returning to the room once guarded by the Warden, Slych uncovered a secret door leading to the lair of Ysondkhelir, the notorious Motley Man. Inside, they were confronted by a giant crawling hand and severed hands pinned to the walls. Ysondkhelir offered a chilling deal: release Dorianna, a captive, in exchange for a volunteer to accept a binding ruby. The party resolved to procure a proxy from above.
Ascending to the upper levels, Lightwing disguised himself as Ysondkhelir to confront Murschen, a pugilist awaiting a match. The ruse quickly spiraled into chaos as Shadow Bell and Lightwing unleashed their spells, while Slych engaged from a distance. Murschen retaliated with ferocity, critically injuring Bastian, Sol’andriel’s loyal wolf companion. The party rallied, healing Bastian and striking back against Murschen, but he managed to pull a lever, unleashing a horde of ghasts that filled the hall with their foul stench.
As the ghasts swarmed, the adventurers fought valiantly, determination etched on their faces. Slych knocked Murschen unconscious, and together, they vanquished the ghasts, securing the area. The party bound Murschen and strategized on how to coerce him into accepting the ruby. Returning to Ysondkhelir’s lair, they revived Murschen, who reluctantly accepted the ruby, binding him to Ysondkhelir.
However, a chilling revelation emerged as the party overheard Ysondkhelir’s true intentions—his plan to claim Murschen’s hand rather than free Dorianna. Armed with this knowledge, they prepared for an assault. Slych opened the door with a fire bead, igniting the room and injuring Ysondkhelir. The ensuing battle saw Shadow Bell and Lightwing utilizing their spells with precision, while Sol’andriel engaged in close combat, embodying the spirit of a true champion.
As the confrontation escalated, Ysondkhelir retaliated with a series of desperate attacks, but the party’s coordination proved overwhelming. Sol’andriel landed a critical hit, and Lightwing’s spells contributed to Ysondkhelir’s downfall. With Ysondkhelir dead, the combat concluded, and the party stood victorious, yet aware of the challenges that still lay ahead.
