In the depths of the labyrinthine dungeon, the party plunged into the treacherous Delirium Room, where Rhys revealed his immunity to the hallucinatory effects, a boon from a prior deal. Lady Whisper reappeared, guiding them toward a Downward-Sloping Passage that promised trials ahead. Adam’andiél leapt into the opening first, landing unscathed in a murky swamp cavern, quickly followed by Slych. The cavern was filled with Rusted Metal Boxes and a dam leaking water, but the noxious air soon left Lightwing sickened while the others managed to resist its effects.
As the party explored, they were ambushed by three mutated creatures known as Voidbracken Chuul, emerging from the swamp with terrifying ferocity. Rhys was swiftly grappled and drained by one of the Voidbracken Chuul, igniting a fierce response from Adam’andiél, who maneuvered past the creatures, tripping one and dealing damage. Lightwing cast a heightened Fear spell, instilling fright in two of the Voidbracken Chuul while Shadow Bell strategically turned a valve to improve the air quality. Despite their valiant efforts, Rhys remained trapped, and the Voidbracken Chuul continued their relentless assault.
The tide of battle began to shift when Adam’andiél broke free, stunning one of the Voidbracken Chuul with a flurry of strikes. Slych unleashed a powerful blast, while Shadow Bell’s Electric Arc damaged multiple foes. Seizing the moment, Rhys freed himself by slaying the Voidbracken Chuul that held him captive. Lightwing provided crucial healing to Slych, and Adam’andiél continued to intimidate and strike at the Voidbracken Chuul.
As the combat raged on, the Voidbracken Chuul’s relentless attacks took their toll. Adam’andiél was drained, and the creatures began to close in on Rhys once more. However, the party’s coordinated efforts led to Slych delivering a decisive blow to one Voidbracken Chuul, while Shadow Bell’s spells wreaked havoc on their foes. With a final surge of strength, Lightwing cast Needle Darts, critically striking the last Voidbracken Chuul and bringing the battle to a close.
After a brief recovery, the party turned their attention to the rusted valve puzzle in the cavern. Slych and Rhys worked together to manipulate the valves, aiming to connect them to a control further north. Their efforts bore fruit, but they still needed to align all valves correctly. Shadow Bell prepared to use her Ward Medic ability to tend to her allies’ wounds.
Venturing deeper into the murky waters, Adam’andiél misjudged the depth and found himself swimming. The foul air persisted, affecting Lightwing again, while Shadow Bell sensed movement beneath the surface. Their next encounter came swiftly as two enormous aquatic predators surfaced, launching a fierce attack on Rhys and Slych. Lightwing quickly intervened with healing spells, while Shadow Bell cast Petal Storm, creating a hazardous area for the creatures.
The battle against the aquatic predators was fierce, with Rhys and Adam’andiél sustaining injuries. Adam’andiél was swallowed whole but managed to escape from within the creature’s belly, showcasing his resilience. Shadow Bell unleashed a powerful Tempest Surge, killing one predator and freeing Rhys from its grasp. The party ultimately triumphed over the last aquatic foe, allowing them to catch their breath and regroup.
As they healed and prepared to move on, they entered a new chamber dominated by a grotesque tree and a circular pool of swamp water. A bipedal creature with an egg-like head emerged, ready to attack. The party braced themselves for the challenges that lay ahead, resolute and ready to confront whatever trials awaited them in the depths of the dungeon.
